“We have had experience and worked with Mark and 5 Star Inspections as a seller, existing home buyer, and now as a new home buyer. While you would expect an existing home inspection to have been the most valuable that was not our experience. Early in our new homes construction process we started having questions. These questions turned to concerns causing a lot of frustration, especially when the responses didn’t always seem appropriate. They seemed more directed at addressing new buyer anxiety and not at resolving the issues causing the concerns. My wife had suggested we hire an inspector earlier, but I was admittedly hesitant. Our builder touted nine independent inspections during the building process in addition to their own. Finally several weeks into the process and after noting what I questioned as a structural issue, we contacted Mark to perform an independent inspection. Mark found the same structural issue I had identified; plus he found two additional structural and numerous minor issues. Many of the other issues I would not have found and some I would never have even thought about. Luckily we brought Mark into the process fairly early. On presenting the inspection report to the builder I found Mark was known and well respected. The builder did not argue about anything. They verified the issues he identified and immediately started work on repairing them. I believe the builder and contractors knowing we would be conducting phased inspections for the rest the construction process changed the quality of their initial work. We also noted more aggressive self-identification and fixing of things up front rather than waiting on subsequent identification\inspections. We are now looking forward to keeping our dream home instead of documenting things to facilitate breaking our contract had it been necessary. I believe our home is now likely one of the best built in our neighborhood. In conclusion, I would never consider building another home without coordinating inspections at each phase of construction; start to finish. The peace of mind that came after starting inspections using an experienced inspector has been invaluable. Mark is definitely a buyer’s advocate. Hire an excellent inspector!!!!! We have done so more than once.”
